Seven Years, 27,500 Backpacks

Since 2015, The Neighborhood has been on the ground supporting homeless and at-risk students in Austin ISD. Our backpack-with-school-supplies initiative ensured that thousands of vulnerable kids started each school year with the tools they needed to succeed.

The Numbers Tell the Story

**By 2021, COVID-19 relief funding allowed school districts to provide their own supplies. The gap we'd been filling was finally covered.

2015: 3,500 backpacks distributed (2,000 small | 1,500 large)

2016: 3,200 backpacks distributed (2,240 small | 960 large)

2017: 3,500 backpacks distributed (2,300 small | 1,200 large)

2018: 3,500 backpacks distributed (2,300 small | 1,200 large)

2019: 4,500 backpacks distributed (3,300 small | 1,200 large)

2020: 5,000 backpacks distributed (3,000 small | 2,000 large)

2021: 4,200 backpacks distributed (3,000 small | 1,200 large)
